Change Act! Theatre company co-creates inclusive
applied theatre towards social change and believe that
‘Theatre changes minds’.
We are in the process of converting to a Charity (we are
currently a CIC), for which we are seeking a group of
founding Trustees. We are doing this so we can grow
responsibly, secure multi-year funding and continue to
raise the profile and impact of our Company
and the artists we work with.
As a Trustee, you will help ensure that Change Act! stays true to its mission and works safely, legally and sustainably. The role will support strategy, finances and risk management, and you will have the chance to act as ambassadors for the charity and make a change.
We seek Trustees who can offer both support and constructive challenge as we grow our impact and reach. There will be a range of voluntary opportunities to get involved in a more hands-on context, depending on your time and intentions.
Early career applicants are very welcome. There will be training, networking and development opportunities attached to the role as identified at interview.
We actively invite applications from those underrepresented in the sector including Disabled, Neurodivergent, Global Majority, working class and LGBTQIA+ applicants.
Who we are
Change Act! Theatre Company was founded in April 2022 as a CIC and currently works in London and the South East. We are a DDPO using participatory Applied Theatre to support Disabled, neurodivergent and marginalised adults to engage in theatre, build confidence, wellbeing and leadership. In the past three years we have grown steadily in projects, partnerships and income, with more than 210 people taking part in our work in the past year alone.
We have a core community of around 30 Disabled and neurodivergent adults who regularly shape our work and who lead on facilitation, performance and creative decision making. Recent projects include inclusive facilitation training, Forum Theatre exploring mental health and suicide prevention, co-created Legislative Theatre performances, and longer-term creative and career-building support.
Co-Directors Paul Formosa and Charlotte Hailey-Watts have over 40 years combined experience in designing and facilitating socially engaged Arts and wellbeing programmes in a wide variety of setting as well as strong leadership and project management experience in culture and community and voluntary sector settings.
Sessions take place in community spaces across Islington, Hackney and Camden. Our current funding is all from grants and trusts, with a mix of Borough and London specific awards from funders such as City Bridge Trust, Cripplegate Foundation, Islington Council, Hackney Council, and Comic Relief.
What we are looking for
We especially welcome applications from people with lived experience of disability, neurodivergence, social exclusion or long-term health conditions. We strongly encourage applications from people from Global Majority backgrounds, working-class backgrounds, and other groups under-represented in the arts.

-
Experience with Trusts and charities.
